Mine is an artistic spirit. I love self-expression. I want to be willing to be vulnerable and to move through the unknown and to be open there. Creating art is a place where I can do this. It seems to be a kind of sacred space where latent potential can come forth and into form. Where I can explore things as I go where the work takes me. I believe we are all capable of so much more than we realize and when we move in new ways we can ignite new levels of passion and creativity within ourselves and each other. When it comes to the human soul, have been largely bound and subjugated by a limited sense of who we are and what we are capable of. I believe that we are in a time now on earth where many people are ready to move beyond these confines. This Black & White Series (consisting of 50 paintings and 30 assemblage pieces) is a new type of self-expression for me. I am making art more to explore the unknown to produce something in particular. I find this world to be so often intolerant of self-expression and ownership of feelings and creating art helps me to feel. To exist more in my totality. Right here. Right now. Happiness, sorrow, love, hate, joy, despair, horror, disgust, harmony, hope and pure ecstasy. I feel like having access to the full spectrum of our emotions is key to living in our soul's full potential. Mine is an artistic spirit. I love self-expression in all its forms. One of the most powerful things that I have learned in my life is the importance of holding onto a willingness to be vulnerable and to move through the unknown and to be open there. It seems that this is the place of the sacred, where latent potential can come forth and into form. I believe we are capable of so much more than we realize and that, by moving in new ways, we begin to understand and ignite new levels of passion and creativity within ourselves and each other. And, as we come to recognize that the shadow exists now in the very places our consciousness is meant to inhabit, we see how we are mighty in our potential indeed. I believe we have been bound and subjugated by a limited sense of who we are and what we are capable of as human beings. I believe that we are in a time now on earth where many are ready to move beyond these confines. This Black & White Series....side effects of transformation, consisting of 50 paintings and 30 assemblage pieces (currently in process) marks a change in my art as I work to break through to the other side of surviving to exist more fully in new ways on earth. I am inspired in these days as I paint and dwell in a sort of world between worlds where my art captures the side effects of my own transformation. It seems here that new things can be birthed from the remnants of the old. It is through new work on my own soul...deeper more honest healing, that I am coming to value this place of birth and death, of black and white, of new beginnings born of facing the past. I want to own all emotions in the end....the ups and downs and ins and outs and to know the freedom to feel them all. I feel like accessing the full spectrum of our emotions is key to life of divine potential. Here. On earth. My hope is that this work inspires others to do the same. To to exist here fully. To feel it all. Inside of this world we share. A world transforming...from black and white to so much more.
